About Happy Days
Happy Days School in Garland, TX was established in 1977 by Lynda Francis. During this time, she has owned and managed the daycare and after school center. We have children attending who are the third generation in their family to come to Happy Days. We believe that good child care comes from having a passion and love of children along with continual professional development.
Our Staff
Each teacher is required to have 30 hours of professional development each year along with CPR and First Aid. All of our staff must pass a criminal background check done before they may begin working with the children.
Lynda Francis
Owner – I have owned Happy Days for over 45 years. When I started having children, I wanted to stay home with them so I also began watching other children in my home. Word eventually spread around our community and I realized there was an opportunity to open up Happy Days School for infants, toddlers, and schoolers. Throughout the years, it has been my pleasure to take care of the children in Garland and see them grow up to become wonderful adults. Thank you for the opportunity to care for your children.
Dee Merritt
Director – I am honored to be the director of Happy Days School. For over 42 years, my professional career has been focused on childhood development an education. Children are my passion, and as Director of Happy Days, I’m here to help your children grow and develop.
I’m an avid learner and proponent of early childhood education. I have a bachelor’s in Education, master’s in Early Childhood Education and Leadership and teaching certificates in Pre-k to 6th grade and Special Education.ion. Previous to my current role, I’ve worked in child care, as a public and private school teacher, and principal of a high school for 6 years. In addition to my work as Director of Happy Days, I’m an adjunct professor at Eastfield Community College, teaching education courses to students who want to become teachers. I also do children’s ministry work with my church and foreign missions.
Crystal Wasson
Assistant Director & Bus Driver – I’ve worked at Happy Days for 11 years serving many different roles. I earned my CDA in Infants & Toddlers, a Child Development Associate certification, in November 2013. I obtained my Directors certification in 2019 and would like to become a director in the future.
